There are 4 common file formats DVR / NVR systems use in video backups.
DAV is an encrypted format created by a DVR365, standard media players won’t work for DAV files. An easy way to open and play DAV files on Windows PC, just use the official DVR365 Player software, it only works on windows pc. There is no dav player for Mac OS X. DAV files store video saved in encrypted format compressed with modified MPEG compression. Of course, you can play the DAV videos with limited video players, such as DVR365 player software, VLC media player and more. In order to play DAV files on your Android phone or iPhone, you have to convert DAV to MP4 instead.

.asf files These files can be played on most computers using readily available free software from the Internet. To play an .asf file, use a third party media player such as VLC Media Player. VLC Media Player will play .asf files, and is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
TIP: VLC Media Player is a free software, available from www.videolan.org and is not supported by Lorex by FLIR.

.avi Audio Video Interleave (.avi) is a multimedia container format by Microsoft, and can contain both audio and video data in a file that allows audio-with-video playback simultaneously. You can view .avi files in most media players.
